Question – is ShieldPlus a virus? The ads this strange ad provider sends to me redirect me to suspicious web sources, e.g. gambling websites. I don’t feel like I can trust these ads. Moreover, they are kind of intrusive. I feel like I see them too frequently. Any comments on ShieldPlus? thanks.

Thank you for your question. First of all, ShieldPlus is technically NOT a virus. However, some computer users who have installed this application unwillingly claim that it acts like a virus. In reality, it is a very annoying potentially unwanted program (PUP), which can be installed without your knowledge as the developers of it tend to add this app to various software bundles.
ShieldPlus ads are annoying; moreover, they hardly provide any real deals. You have probably noticed that this application generates very catchy ads. It is so because it tracks your activity on the Internet and then sends ads for you that are considerably related to your interests. Despite the fact that these ads look great, you should not click on them. They are designed to look catchy; in reality, they hold deceptive hyperlinks, and it is very unlikely that clicking on these ads is going to lead you to the actual 'offer' website. In most of the cases, ShieldPlus adware redirects users to third-party websites in order to generate web traffic for these sites.
There is no actual use of ShieldPlus program - it cannot provide useful ads, it only slows down the computer system and also takes space on your computer. That is why we recommend removing it. You can find ShieldPlus removal instructions here.
