Ok so the story is, all of my files are now locked, and I cannot access them. Looking at the general signs, it seems that it’s the BitCrypt virus but some things do not add up. There are no .bitcrypt extensions or notes informing that I’ve been infected with BitCrypt. Can it be some kind of version 2 of this virus? If so, how do I remove BitCrypt 2.0 and recover my files? Thank you for your help

We have recently received some reports about the BitCrypt 2.0 ransomware. It seems that BitCrypt creators have really come up with the new version of the virus and are currently spreading it around. Unfortunately, there is not a lot information about this new virus just yet. So, the best way to determine what infection has actually taken hold of your computer is by scanning it with a professional antivirus utility, for instance FortectIntego. After all the malicious virus components are detected and eliminated from the system, you can try carrying out data recovery with tools like PhotoRec, R-Studio or Kaspersky virus-fighting utilities.
