There is something wrong with my PC. The files on it are all displayed as shortcuts and feature a masterlock@india.com.crypt extension instead of the regular ones. Plus, I cannot seem to open none of them! How do I remove this suspicious extension and regain access to my files?

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, the problem is not the file extension itself. Your computer is most likely infiltrated by a ransomware virus by the same title as the extension. This means that your files are encrypted with a sophisticated algorithm. The problem is that there is no way to decrypt this algorithm without a private key, which is currently in the hands of the cyber criminals. You can try recovering your data using special tools, such as PhotoRec, R-Studio or Kaspersky virus-fighting utilities. But before you do that you should eliminate the virus from your system. You can use FortectIntego for this purpose. Let us know how the removal went!
Take care
