Hello, I wanted to ask how did SocialNewPage browser extension got in Chrome browser if I didn’t add it? is SocialNewPage virus? I am 100% positive that it is not an in-built add-on. My search engine is also set to search.socialnewpagesearch.com. Is it safe to use? I don’t even know what to think. 😕

If you did not add SocialNewPage add-on to Chrome, it means you have installed it with another program. You are right - it is not an inbuilt add-on, and, in fact, SocialNewPage is a browser hijacker. It is not recommended to search via Search.SocialNewPageSearch.com search engine, which SocialNewPage browser hijacker sets on the homepage and new tab page because it can redirect you to third-party websites all of sudden. Its functionality is highly questionable and, in fact, quite unpredictable. If you are looking for a good search engine, consider using Google, Bing, or Yahoo search engine.

To remove SocialNewPage, use these SocialNewPage removal instructions or use an anti-malware software (e.g. FortectIntego).
