I thought that Potato ransomware virus is some kind of a joke. However, I got infected and I am not sure what to do to with the encrypted files. I understand that I have to remove virus; however, I am not sure if virus elimination deletes infected files or not?

No matter how funny the name sounds, Potato ransomware virus is a real cyber threat that should be removed from the computer immediately with reputable malware removal tools. Virus elimination neither deletes nor restores encrypted files. Therefore, you can concentrate on the elimination. We recommend scanning infected computer's system with FortectIntego, SpyHunter 5Combo Cleaner or Malwarebytes. However, if you cannot install security tools or run a full system scan, follow the guidelines provided at the end of his article. What is more, there you will also find some methods that may help to recover some of the encrypted files.
