Hi,

I have/had SmitFraud-c on my system.  I followed the instructions on this site as best I could, but AVG seems to be a different version now, so I don't know how to go about generating a log.

Spyot S&D repeatedly detects SmitFraud-C on my system after various attempts to clean it up.

I have used the S!ri SmitRem tool (up to date).

Hijack This keeps reporting that Winjjq32.dll is in the Winlog Notify area.  After removal, it comes back after each reboot (even in safe mode I think).

How can I remove it?

Where should I post a Hijack This log in relation to this issue?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

The dll in question is no longer showing up in the HijackThis log, and my system is being reported as clean by Spyware Doctor, AdAware and Spybot S&D - however, there is an icon showing in my task tray which doesn't belong there telling me something like 'click here to remove spyware'.

If I use Task Manager to stop explorer.exe, and then restart it again, then the litte icon (a dark red circle) does not reappear.

My HijackThis log now reads:

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1

Hi Crispie.

Please follow these steps:

1. Download Pocket KillBox or KillBox utility.

2. Use HijackThis to fix the following entry:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CTDrive] rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvron.dll,startup

3. Now restart your system in Safe Mode.

4. Once in Safe Mode, use either Pocket KillBox or KillBox to delete the following file:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drvron.dll

Thanks GTO,

I did what you said.

Spyware Doctor then rediscovered a downloader object, the original problem DLL then reappeared in the HijackThis log, but then SpyDoctor cleaned it properly.

I'm now reasonably happy with my system, although a little concerned to see websites appear in the log files produced by Norton Anti Virus which I certainly haven't visited intentionally, and which appear to be some kind of tracking sites.

So I feel clean (ish)

Thanks again.
