Sounds like everyone is having the same problem as I am.  I have followed all the instructions for manually uninstalling this horrible malicious software and nothing works.  I've followed the instructions from this site and some others and so far I've had absolutely no luck.  Sounds like I'll have to pay money for a program to get rid of this, but that just seems to ad to SpyAxe's agenda...make us buy something just to get rid of their program. :x

I'm frustrated and mad, and I want to know how in the world this company can ge away with this?!  Why are they not shut down or sued or something?   This is awful...I can't even let my kids on the computer because of some awful popups that I've seen since SpyAxe installed itself, and I can't do anything on my computer because messages keep popping up!
 Sad
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP US!

I have been struggling to remove this on a client's PC.

This is what worked for me in addition to following the instructions found on the web.

My client has NAV 2004 running on his pc and a virus scan found no virus. However, installing his hard drive into my PC and running McAfee virus scan (build 10.0.27) found the following:

x2 Java exploits (sorry did not make a note of exact description)
ioctrl.dll (this seems to run the spyaxe installer, but I am no expert!)

Removing the above has fixed the re-ocurring install / flashing red X pop problem (running for an hour so far).

Note on adaware programs.

I installed a fully licenced copy of Spyware Doctor onto my clients PC and, though it helped trap some of the effects of having spyaxe, it did not remove it completely (free versions of Ad-aware and Spybot were also installed on the PC, but these did not remove spyaxe completely either).

Hope this helps.

After removing the adware, restore your settings and desktop with smithrem: http://noahdfear.geekstogo.com/

There is a new variant of this line of spyware, it works by registering as a component of internet explorer (Popup Blocker for IE, cmyBHOimpl Object, bhoimpl.dll), it runs under name "IEXPLORE.EXE" (note: it's the same name as the name of internet explorer). It runs every time IE is run. You can remove it by deleting the dll file from windows/system32/ folder or by deleting it and removing the IE autorun entry with autoruns from sysinternals.com website.

DO NOT buy SpyAxe, as it is a corrupt anti-spyware! It WILL NOT remove the SpyAxe trojan!

To completely get rid of SpyAxe, its variants and similar parasites you should:

1. Reboot your system into Safe Mode (this step is VERY IMPORTANT).
2. Follow updated SpyAxe manual removal instructions (those should help to remove the most recent SpyAxe variants).
3. Download and run the smitRem tool. It deletes some SpyAxe components and eliminates similar parasites.
