Spywarebot mistake

I have just been trying to clean my Dad’s PC of some spyware and got fooled into paying for this fake anti spyware software.

I have told my dad to stop using his PC and to cancel the card we used so that they cannot get at any more money other than that we have already paid out.

I have already been given some advice on another forum about this but I thought that I should try a dedicated spyware forum

I also would like to know if in other peoples experience has this fake software been used to try and steal more money other than that that we have already paid out.

hello there
you don't have to stop using that pc. if the infection is still there, i recommend using some legitimate anti spyware tools and removing it. you can find several tools available on this website.

Hey there,

You are lucky that SpywareBot is not a serious threat to the PC. Sure, it gives popup stating to buy the program but its actually harmless comparing to other major ones. I have encountered this once and managed to solve it. Download these two, Spybot S&D and CCleaner. After removing the threat, run CCleaner to clean up the missing files or pieces of the program. Problem solved
