Hi Everyone,
This forum looks like a good place to get some very useful information.
I am having an issue with popups coming up on my PC and wanting me to download from a particular site some spyware or adware removal programs. The pops up are from "Windows Security Alert" and state this:
Windows has detected an Internet attack attempt.... Somebody's trying to infect your PC with spyware or harmful viruses. Run full system scan nw to protect your PC from Internet attacks, hijacking attempts, and spyware! Click here to download spyware remover for total protection"
I have a brand new Norton 360 on my machine that is up-to-date and it not detected it. I did some surfing on the net about this and went to a site and purchased a program called Spy Doctor. When i scan my PC, It will identify the infected files and remove them but they then come right back. Where Spy Doctor tells me they are in the registry editor I do not see them. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove this nasty invader?
I have done a "Find" in my registry editor and have found the words Adware.Agent.BN and also Win32.Adware.Agent.BN. Should these be deleted from the registry editor, will that take care of the problem???
Sorry this is so length...
