We had to repair a pc, and when we wanted to repair windows xp profesional, which was a hacked version and was illegal, it actually activated this virus which was hiding in the registry and wiped out the whole registry! we had to do data recovery and our next step is to clone the hard drive to another scazzy. we had been working more than 24 hours on this operating system, raw time. this virus is malicious!!!!! :twisted:

our first sign was when we started it up was the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH
then we thought that it was the ram.we reset it. started it up, and the system didnt want to go into windows, and started up all the time over and over, it ran in circles.
what do you do then?
we swithed the harddrive which was infected from master to slave.tried to copy all the data to our computer.windows was then corrupt and didnt wanted to be copied over. so we didnt have a external USB cradle and formated the harddrive and then did the data recovery.

wow, that's an interesting story. you hadn't said all the details, but somehow i think BSOD was because of corrupted registry and not a result of malware. however, i might be wrong.
