some people say it doesn't matter which browser you use as long as you don't visit phishy websites, porn, don't download things and as long as you don't click on links given on spam emails. but this strategy is not safe because web browsers just like other programs have some vulnerabilities left. this means, there are some errors left that creators hadn't noticed and some thing that creators didn't thought about when they were making a browser. and these little errors can be exploited by malicious software to install trojans and spyware on a computer or simply record user's login information and other sensitive things.
the more popular a browser is, the more people work in finding those errors and exploit them to install malware. however, an unknown web browser can be unsafe too.
i use firefox myself and i consider it a secure web browser. it updates often - this mean the errors (if any) are fixed often. besides it blocks pop-ups. in the end it's up to you which one you choose. i hope other members of this forum will share their opinions as well.
