unknown varrient of VirtuMonde (maybe)

This is a weird situation for me, since this spyware seems to be blocking me from installing hijackthis or accessing any site involving spyware removal. When I try to go to websites such as majorgeeks or the download center at microsoft, firefox says that it can't make a connection with the site (not 404 or 503 or whatever error code), saying that there might be a broken connection on my side. I also can't install hijack this with the official install I got from download.com. When I search for things through google and click on to another site, I not only get taken to the wrong site, usually a bull-crap search engine, but the link doesn't appear to have been actually clicked. The link is still blue as if I haven't clicked it at all, but I must have to have gotten a respond like the pop-up. This was happening in a different way with the links going through in the same window, but again the first time I clicked link it brought me to an ad-site/search engine. After I would hit return, I would click the link again, but this time it would go through to the site searched for.
My main goal would be to get hjinstall.exe working, if there is some way to do it through safemode or in command prompt. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
