Hi there,
Recently on logging on to AOL, afile opens onits own -- 'Exec.exe' . When I look at the file it is named 'utility.dll'. as i don't know what it is, I have never opened it but close it and carry on with what I am doing. My Pc has suddenly become slow and I have just typed  'Exec.exe'  into google and find that it is a spyware file of some sort.
Can anyone help me please?

I have just joined the forum and tried to download  'uniblue' from this home page but I got a message that it had an invalid registry path.

Before I try anyhting else, I really would like some help. I have recently had to run a recovery on my Windows XP due to problems with crashing and am fearing the worst again.  Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Exec.exe is probably a malicious file. The best way to see if it's really a virus is to run system scan with a reputable and legitimate anti-spyware application. I recommend Spyware Doctor. You may download it from Google Pack website:
http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html

NOTE: don't forget to update Spyware Doctor and do a full system scan instead of quick scan.

Then use MalwareBytes anti-malware and post scan results here.
http://www.2-spyware.com/review-malwarebytes-anti-malware.html

NOTE: Malwarebytes should be updated too.

If that fails then we will take another direction.

Good luck!

Hi there,

I have done as you say...both full scans. Took hours to do !!

Now, I am trying to post the results for you but can't seem to find out how!. They won't copy and paste and there is no way to send them as if I were sending a picture. Hope you don't think I'm a complete idiot but can you tell me how please? They are both very lengthy reports.

Regards

Sorry for the late replay. Open MalwareBytes anti-malware and select "Logs" tab, there you will find the log file. It's a text file, so you should be able to copy and paste the text here.

I would like to place a button on my toolbar that will launch another program when clicked.  I added the button to the toolbar, but how do I make it call an EXe file?
