Hey everyone,

I have been trying to remove antivirus live by following online tutorials. I got to the point where I was able to trick the virus into downloading the renamed program "explorer.com" and kill the process. So from what I understand the next step is to run a program to get rid of the virus completely so that when I restart the computer it will be gone for good? I have Windows Defender and ran it and it did not detect anything... any suggestions or reasons to why it is not finding it?

Thank you!

Hello Julia,

You have to make sure that Windows Defender virus definitions are up to date. Update it and scan your PC again. If it still doesn't detect anything then most likely Windows Defender doesn't have Antivirus Live in its database. And yes, you are absolutely right, the next step is to run an anti-spyware program to remove the virus. Just download an automatic removal tool from here: http://www.pctools.com/downloads/afl_2-spyware/sdsetup.exe

Install it, update and run a full system scan. Good luck!

Hello Caleb ConDoin,

You can use SUPERAntispyware (freeware) or MalwareBytes anti-malware instead of Spyware Doctor. However, I can't guarantee you that SUPERAntispyware or MalwareBytes will detect all infected files and remove them. Just try those programs yourself. Good luck!
