My mother's computer recently acquired this virus and I've tried a variety of the posted solutions, each without success. Her comp is at the point where logging onto windows 2000 is almost impossible; the system just sits there, the only allowable actions being to click on the IS2010 pop-ups. I'm probably just gonna take it in to a pro next week, but if I can save the money I'd be grateful. I'm not familiar with "safe-mode" or how to use it, but if someone can provide me with detailed instructions on possible fixes using that route, I'd be ecstatic.

Hello Rush_Clasic,

You have to reboot your PC in "Safe Mode with Networking" if possible.

To get into the Windows 2000 Safe Mode with Networking, as the computer is booting tap the "F8 Key" continually which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode with Networking" and press your Enter key.
