Hello there - I need help removing some malware from my system.   I got infected (I think) about a week ago.  My husband was downloading a shockwave update or something like that and then things started to go haywire on both browsers (IE and firefox).

Initially I was unable to open either browser - but I did some scans with Adaware, CCleaner, Malwarebytes, SUPERAntispyware, Combofix, SpyDoctor and removed some threats.  Now I am able to use my browsers however they do not behave normally.  I use the Google search engine and on some links, not all, the address is redirected to another unexpected page, sometimes a MySpace site, or a search engine with a list of links for programs to help me with spyware and computer problems.   Often these unwanted redirections occur through the following address results2.google

It is somewhat better after doing all the scans etc, but I must still have residual malware because I still get the occasional redirection,  I cannot go to the malwarebytes website (I get a page which says DNS error, but here is a list of useful malware links!!) even though I can load this website on our other computer.

Also it does not load my homepage (firefox startup page with google search form).  I get an error message instead which says "The page isn't redirecting properly.
Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete."

Hoping so much that you will be able to help me - I have spent hours on this already.

Many thanks for your time[/i]

Hello,

Check your DNS settings. It seems that they were changed. Read here how to change DNS settings: http://www.mediacollege.com/computer/network/dns.html
