Ok so I got this security tool thing 2-3 days ago.  After reading a ton of sites on how to remove this thing and spending 8 hrs trying to do so I am at a loss. I downloaded Mbam but this virus blocked it, I tried to start in safe mode several times but the virus blocked that. I was confused about how to disable it and all I could figure out that you were talking about was to go into security tool and uncheck the boxes that were enabling it to appear at startup. I tried to go into taskmgr and msconfig but the virus also blocked that. I downloaded a couple of spyware program such as spydoctor and a sysinternfile program . None of this worked.  I went to folder options and clicked show hidden files and folders and found the random numbered file but when I tried to delete it it said it was in use by another application. So once again this also did not work. I deleted the icon from my prgram panel but am unable to open my recycling bin.  After 8 hrs I got the blue screen of death and pressed f8 a crap load of times and this time I signed on the computer and the security tool did not pop up.  I do not think I was in safe mode though because the screen that gives you the option to go into that mode did not pop up .  I went to msconfig and deleted the random numbers folder and deleted it from task manager and the startup panel. I went to file options , show hidden files and tried again to delete the random numbers file but it would not work.  I did go to all my programs and unchecked and disabled everything and checked everything but the random number file and enabled all.   I am in the process of trying to back up my music and pictures. I have dell data safe online but the process was interuppted and said some of my files were corrupt.  I am currently in the process of trying to back up my files on a flash drive and a dvd-r.   I am afraid though once I log off my computer and log back on that the security tool will be back. Should I try running mbam and spydoctor again?  What else should I do ? Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

If you can't delete those random files, then just rename them and restart your computer. There is a chance that Security Tool won't load up. And at this point you should definitely run  a system scan with Spyware Doctor. Good luck!

Ok I believe security tool is gone because when I restarted my computer my macafee popped up and said trojan has been removed but now I have the problem with my computer being way slow. Do you know if I may have missed some files or a way to speed it back up?

"Do you know if I may have missed some files or a way to speed it back up?"

1. Download Spyware Doctor. Update it and run a full system scan. If it won't wind anything then your PC is clean. Uninstall it after the scan if you don't want to keep it.

2. Download CCleaner and remove all unnecessary files, registry values and etc.

Security Tool is typical fake anti-spyware application. It’s a copy of the notorious Total Security scam. It detects and reports numerous computer infections and it requires buying the full version of the program for deleting the threats.

To remove SecurityTool spyware you must block SecurityTool sites, stop and remove processes, unregister DLL files, search and delete all other SecurityTool files and registry utility. Follow the SecurityTool detection and removal instructions below.

The most typical software removal method is to remove SecurityTool by using "Add or Remove Programs" service. However there may be hidden SecurityTool files, running processes and registries in your computer, so SecurityTool may recreate all other files after reboot.

Block SecurityTool sites:
bestantispyware7.com
antivir-labs.com
security-tool2010.com
total-scan.net

Stop and remove SecurityTool processes:
Security Tool.exe
uninstall.exe

Locate and delete SecurityTool registry entries:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "SecurityTool"
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vista Antivirus 2010
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\SecurityTool
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SecurityTool Read more how to delete SecurityTool registry entries
Download RegistryBooster 2010 to scan errors caused by SecurityTool

Detect and delete other SecurityTool files:
%System Root%\Samples
%User Profile%\Local Settings\Temp
%Program Files%\SecurityTool
%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\SecurityTool
%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Application Data\SecurityTool
Security Tool.exe
uninstall.exe

I think Security Tool is just like the Security Shield virus.I had a lot of trouble removing the virus on my own, so I found this link that really helped me. I thought I would share it for all you others out there who have trouble following the instructions in this thread.
