Have XP Home edition. My brother used this computer and it now has the Internet Security 2010 on it.

Now you CANNOT do ANYTHING. WIndows starts and you are able to pick your log-in. After that nothing. The desktop doesnot load, only the "software" saying I have viruses and need to purchase the software.

Tried to load windows in "safe mode" and it will not. The startup simply stops. I am unable to do anything on this machine that is infected. My brother doesn't have money for a "tech" so I told him I would see if I could do anything.

Is there a way to salvage this computer (Kids pictures, videos etc) or will the HD have to be wiped and a clean install performed. Thanks for any info and/or advice.

This cause by a Trojan spyware attack, it happen on my before.

Not all anti virus can detect the thing, the Trojan take over my anti virus software. Then it keep telling me that my PC has been attack by several virus and software and keep advise me to purchase their anti virus software.

I use anti spy ware doctor to clean the thing, it worked.

I suggest U to install spy ware and run it in safe-mode.

Internet Security 2010 is a rogue antivirus program. InternetSecurity2010 is a clone of Advanced Virus Remover malware.
Internet Security 2010 imitates a system scan and reports many false system security threats. Then it will redirect its victims to vs-codec-pro.net where it is asked to pay for a full version of the program to remove those security issues or infections. However, do not buy it - this is a scam.
