I recently had the Vista Antimalware virus, and after finding and killing the ave.exe process I was able to get onto this website and follow these instructions
http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-vista-antimalware-2010.html to get rid of the virus.
I chose to manually remove it since I don't trust downloadable antivirus software; Antimalware is the first virus I've had in 2 years using only Windows Defender.
However~ after following these instructions, whenever I open anything i get the message:
This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel. The problem seems to be with .exe files, and sure enough on my Set Associations control panel there is no .exe to associate to a program...
Is this a result of the virus and is it still present in some form? Or have I unwittingly deleted something I shouldn't have?
NB. I've already downloaded Spyware Doctor, it's not helped
