PEST TRAP adware - How 2 remove message from wallpaper

Recently removed PEST  TRAP software from my HP Pavilion.  I used Microsofts AD remover to delete the continual pop up message indicating a had a virus.  (False claim always made by PEST TRAP software)  QUESTION:  How do I remove the large VIRUS MESSAGE on my desk top wallpaper.  The microsoft ad remover would not remedy.  Any ideas??  THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

Please follow these steps in order to remove the Pest Trap wallpaper:

1. First of all, try this:
* Navigate to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display. This should open the Display Properties window.
* Click on the Desktop tab and then within it click on the Customize Desktop button.
* Another window should appear. Within it select the Web tab.
* Now you should see the list of web pages. UNCHECK THEM ALL and delete everything except for My Current Home Page.
* Apply changes.

2. If the previous step didn't work, try this:
* Click on the Start button. Then launch the Run... tool.
* Type regedit and press enter. This will open the Registry Editor.
* Now locate the keys HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\Wallpaper and delete them with all the subkeys.
* Reboot your computer.

My son has the same problem on his dell laptop and the solution above did not work . Any other suggestions?

alz3kids, please download the HijackThis program on your son's laptop, run a system scan and post a fresh log into a new thread in the HijackThis log analysis section.
