Brave Sentry issue

I hope one of you can help with this.  Everywhere I read about downloading certain programs to get rid of this pest called Brave Sentry, is another proplem all unto itself.  You see, when I got this virus, I also could no longer get on to the internet.  It seems as if this virus is causing something in the background.  If I cannot get onto the internet, then I can't download the solutions.  
Has anyone else encountered this or know of a solutio

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I was scratching my head over this one my self, and was ready to reformat a customer's computer over it. I found that (in WinXP) if you boot to safe mode --- By tapping the F8 key while the computer is booting, go into the Administrator account and perform a system restore (Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore) and restore the system to a date before the infestation occurred, it seems to take care of the problem. I'm sorry if these instructions seem a little basic, but I have know idea what your level of experience is, and I'm sure that other folks are probably going to be researching the same issue and will come across your posting.  I hope this helps. I'm in the same trouble.  Cannot get on line, cannot use desktop,  I tried to restore using method suggested but system would not let me restore.  Kept coming up restore incomplete.  Any suggestions as to what I can do?

Problem is I can't download anything do to inability to use browser, desktop, etc. Only thing I figure out it booting it in safemode and try deleteing the bad processes and files.  This may be more than I can figure out and will have to take it some where to do it for me.  I'd love to figure out how to do it myself (with help)  I'm learning alot about computers by investigating this.  Thanks for any and all help.

dwander, you can always use another computer for downloading HijackThis. Just copy the installation file to a floppy, a flash drive, CD-R or DVD-R disc, and open it on the compromised computer. You can post to this forum, so I don't see any problem here :roll:.
