I turned my monitor off and walked away from the computer.  When I came back the computer had restarted and unspypc was installed and telling me I had spyware.  I don't doubt I have spyware. But where did this program come from. I didn't install it.

Hi, kozmo. Welcome to 2-Spyware.com forums.

As you already should know, UnSpyPC is a corrupt anti-spyware program. It produces false positivies and its performance is very poor. However, there were no illegal installation issues yet. Till your post. It seems that some kind of adware parasite or a trojan installed to your system downloaded UnSpyPC and installed it without your knowledge. Maybe you visited an insecure web site or clicked on a suspicious advertisement or pop-up. It's hard to say for sure, as your problem is the very first one. Please let us know what Internet resources did you visit that day.

As for UnSpyPC removal - this program can be easily uninstalled by using the Windows standard Add or Remove Programs tool. The application should have its own functional uninstaller. If you need help getting rid of spyware parasites please scan your system with HijackThis and post a fresh log into the appropriate forum section.

and some other user reported this same problem
I use ad aware and spybot but I don't think that is taking care of everything because I have alot of problems
my mouse does that slow sticky movemnet thing(maybe the mouse it self)
computer freezs up, crashes sometimes I will click on internet explorer and it won't open no matter what
so I have to restart the comp
the amount of freespace I have also changes frequently without cause
this could be a virus or spyware

Your system is unstable and running slow because of numerous parasites it is infected with. The solution is provided in this thread.

By the way, what computer do you have? Can you provide its technical details including information on the processor, memory, hard disk, etc?

A 19gig hd.  Since it is a gateway with everything already in it I don't know the manufacturer.  If you need to know more just tell me what and how to find out and I will.

System instability issues, crashes and frequent slowdowns can be caused by viruses and spyware, but often hardware and even the operating system itself are the real causes. I personally dislike Microsoft Windows ME. Windows 2000 or Windows XP would be a much better choice. Furthermore, you're running quite a big number of programs on system startup. Some of them, especially McAfee software eat up a lot of system resources, and 128 MB of RAM is definitely not enough. If I were you I should add more memory to that computer.

Definetely, that is why I use the ram free ap. And I know ME sucks  I would of put xp on but SHE wouldn't give me the cd. It is kinda like I goto work with what I have. If it was my computer I would have more RAM more space, XP and so on. but it isn't
