I am confused about the steps to take or what to do with the analysis like with the insert file and etc. AVG and others will not allow removal and are corrupted. I appreciate any help on this matter. |

Please explain this to me. "Insert file and etc."? What's this? Does AVG say your system is infected? |

Post subject: One small malfunction-error. |
|
|
Hi, and thanks.
With the below file I keep getting the error below ( very bottom for HIJACK). Sometimes I get errors like this with other programs.
A few months back I received a Trojan alert, then multiple windows flooded the screen. AVG FREE stopped functioning well, items disappeared from my install/remove list. And I couldn't download or open anything. Apparently uninstallers cannot remove AVG for one saying "string not found" or "no file found."
There are a few programs I cannot seem to uninstall, or, like AVG reinstalling and trying again still does no good. Then I can't uninstall the other it seems. Since they quit supporting AVG Free for Win98 I guess it's lost cause. So, I guess I've got AVG as clean as I can manually do it without affecting the pc or my novice skills killing my machine.
But, things are getting better and not as frequent, just times like this example yet with HIJACKTHIS. Everything to date seems to have quickened and cleaned up my pc with fewer errors now at least.
Being a novice I really appreciate your help and input.
Again thanks, Bucky

Hi Bucky
Usually, you can clean or repair your system without reinstalling it. However, your case is different. Windows 98 can be severely affected by software problems. It's quite difficult to repair, so I suggest reinstalling the OS. You can also to try to install more stable system such as Windows XP. Running the unsupported Windows 98 is not recommended. |
