I have problems remowing MS Antivirus 2008 (corrupt ''antivirus''). It installed itself along with some other malware/adware/trojan... programs.
I tried to quickly kill as many strange processes as I could but to no effect so I shut down the computer (5 secunds on the power button) and restarted it hoping I would do a virus and adware scan. Since my avast home edition couldn't remove some files I restarted comp again so it could do a scan before the system loaded.
I then chose to go to safe mode and remove MS Antivirus 2008 using the manual removal process described by 2Spyware.com (this webpage). I deleted the files, but when I returned to normal mode the damn thing is still there.

Are there more files to delete than that in Program files? And where can I find them?
And if I try to use a spyremowing program recomemded by this page, is it safe to update it on the infected computer? If so I would go into safe mode with networking to do that (can I do it that way?).

Any help would be appreciated.

hello there,
as you've already deleted the main files of MS Antivirus, you should be able to run anti-spyware scan. if i remember it right, avast is dedicated to removing rather viruses than malwares like ms antivirus. i recommended running malwarebytes antimalware scan : http://www.2-spyware.com/review-malwarebytes-anti-malware.html this anti-spyware is free to use but it's quite powerful.
hope to hear from you soon.

If you run a scan, it's better if you type 'msconfig' in the from Start>Run and disable all the processes that are malicious and restart. Since some programs might not display correctly(SafeMode resolution is too big), it might be better to run the scan in normal mode.
