I have removed all I can find of Spy Sheriff but I do not have full control over the desktop and there are some problems with typing. I removed the Desktop.html in C:\Windows to get rid of the bogus warning and can change the color of the desktop but the rest is locked. There are no web sites listed in the web tab of the properties of the desktop.
Here is the hijack this log

I've checked your log. It looks clean to me.
The following entryes are the only ones you should fix:
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msjava.dll (file missing)
These aren't malicious, but simply aren't used anymore. You can safely remove them.
As for the desktop hijack, please try the following:
1. Right-clik on the desktop and select the Properties option. This should open the Display Properties window.
2. Click on the Desktop tab and within the appeared screen click on Customize Desktop.
3. Another window should appear. Within it select the Web tab.
4. Now you should see the list of web pages. UNCHECK THEM ALL and delete everything except for My Current Home Page.
5. Apply changes.
If this will not help, please do this:
1. Launch Registry Editor.
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDestkop key and delete all the subkeys inside it.
3. Reboot your computer. |

Thank you very much GTO. In the meantime I have found a fix called SmitREM that has solved the problem with the locked desktop. The only remaining problem I have is that when typing sometimes the curser skips to a new area of the text. I cannot find anything that could be causing this problem and don't know if it a result of corruption caused from the malware or some other issue. Any ideas? |

This might be caused by certain software or hardware problems. I don't think it is a parasite that affects the cursor. |
