First off- Thanks for offering a web-site like this one....
I am on m wife's PC- My laptop has been infected with the 'Total Security" virus as mentioned in this thread but seems to be a tad different.
The snap shots are exactl the same but on m PC it does not connect itself (or let me connect my Verizon wireless) to the internet. Task manager also does not come up when ctrl, alt, delete is input.
My laptop will not allow me to do anything, It will not even let me buy the Total Security scam-ware. LOL I would obviously follow the above info. but I cannot get into anything.
Also, when I shut down my laptop down I get a fatal error.
PLEASE HELP ME, my life is in that damned laptop.

Hello dianhsuhe,
from what you said I think there are more infections on your PC, not only Total Security. Or it can be another variant of this parasite which is able to block task manager and other programs or tools. I recommend to you to use either MalwareBytes antimalware or ComboFix. It would be great if you scanned your PC with both programs. They are free to use. Download both programs and copy them into CD or flash pen. Any removable device will work in this case, doesn't really matter. Note: rename the installers (setup files) before copying into removable device. For example.: mbam-setuop.exe to test123.exe, ComboFix.exe to Combo-Fix.exe.
First of all run MalwareBytes anti-malware from removable device. Remove found infections, then run ComboFix. If that won't work, do the same but only in safe mode.
MalwareBytes anti-malware:

ComboFix:

Good luck! |

OK Rodi- I downloaded the Malware and changed its name as you suggested and I inserted a CD but itsaid I did not have a cd inserted...???
Then a few minutes later m system shut down and the error said Windows shut down for protection.
I keep having to shut the laptop off by holding down the power button.
Suggestions? |
