Post Post subject: Help me kill about:blank Reply with quote

I got hit with some spyware the other day while attempting to play online(Half-Life 2) and it has absolutely crippled my system,
when opening inet explorer I get that fabulous empty page with about:blank in the URL bar along with pop-ups every 5 minutes,
when logged into a web page if I go to a sub page I seem to be automatically logged out,
I can't download files (get a message saying my sec. settings don't allow download),
I don't seem to be able to submit forms(had to and am currently using my bros. comp. to register and post on this forum for help),
Cant even access my hotmail account(seems to be that Java is disabled as I get a message stating that I need javascript to log in)

I have downloaded hijackthis(once again via bros. comp.) and run it on my pc and this is the resulting log

Hi, zaknafein17. Sorry for the delay Confused.

Please follow these steps:

1. Download the VundoFix tool and the KillBox utility.

2. Use HijackThis to fix the following entries:
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = ftp=192.168.0.20:20;gopher=192.168.0.20:20;http=192.168.0.20:20;https=192.168.0.20:20;socks=192.168.0.20:20
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Microsoft System Support] spool.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft System Support] spool.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: SharedDLLs - C:\WINDOWS\system32\j44oleh31h4.dll

3. Now run VundoFix. Follow official usage instructions:
Quote:
* Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
* Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
* You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
* When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
* Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
* You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
* Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
* When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
* Turn your computer back on.

4. Open the C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\hosts file and delete all the lines except for 127.0.0.1 localhost.

5. Reboot your computer into Safe Mode.

6. Once in Safe Mode, use KillBox to delete the following files (if they exist):
C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\j44oleh31h4.dll

7. After you get done, restart your computer, run another HijackThis scan and post a fresh log here.
