Hi Mate,
I've definetly got the unwanted program and below is the scan list, which I'm not sure if it's bogus as it didn't seem to scan, was completed in about 3 seconds, any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Please follow these steps:
1. Download the KillBox utility.
2. Use HijackThis to fix the following entries:
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

3. Now reboot your system into Safe Mode.
4. Delete the following files, if they are present (you may need to use KillBox for this):
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sxlntr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winapi32.dll
5. After you get done, restart your computer, run another HijackThis scan and post a fresh log here.

Sorry me again when you said fix the first items, did you mean delete them as there is no fix file in the kill box program, either way none of the files were found (said file does not seem to exist).

The tutorial article Starting the system in Safe Mode thoroughly explains how to reboot the system in Safe Mode.
By saying Use HijackThis to fix the following entries I mean use HijackThis, not KillBox  . The HijackThis program has the Fix checked button, which appears right after the scan is finished. Please read HijackThis tutorial to learn more. |

Hi GTO,
Thanks for the help so far, have done everyhing asked above and posting the fresh log, One of the files C:\WINDOWS\system32\sxlntr.dll could not be found to be deleted, but all others were done. There is still the problem as the desk top still has been hijacked.

Your last log looks clean to me.
As for the desktop hijack, please follow these steps:
1. First of all, please do the following:
* Navigate to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display. This should open the Display Properties window.
* Click on the Desktop tab and then within it click on the Customize Desktop button.
* Another window should appear. Within it select the Web tab.
* Now you should see the list of web pages. UNCHECK THEM ALL and delete everything except for My Current Home Page.
* Apply changes.
2. If the previous step didn't help, please try this:
* Click on the Start button. Then launch the Run... tool.
* Type in regedit and press enter. This will open the Registry Editor.
* Now locate the keys HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\Wallpaper and delete them with all the subkeys.
* Reboot your computer. |
