So I've followed all the sets of instructions on various sites including this one and I've removed every single file that is assossiated with Spyfalcon and yet the popups keep coming from the annoying little icon in the botton right of the screen. Any ideas why this is happening?

Join the club im having the same problem. I dont seem to actuly have the spyfalcon program installed i just have an icon in my bottom right hand tray that looks to be a little green disabled sign that changes back and forth to a circle with a red slash through it. About once every ten mins it tells me "your computer is infected!" blah blah blah u click on it and it takes u to spyfalcons website. Now all the guides ive found seem to think i got the spyfalcon program downloaded and sitting in program files but i dont. I just seem to have the pop up. Can anyone please help Sad?

Thats exactly the problem I have, to the letter. I'm wondering if perhaps the sneaky fellas at Spyfalcon have changed all the file names because they werent making as much of their dirty money as the solution was available for free.

Hello.

There is a new variant of SpyFalcon in the wild. 2-Spyware.com already provides updated SpyFalcon manual removal instructions.

prodigal and wedgea, please create your own topics in the HijackThis log analysis section and post your logs there. Otherwise you will not receive any help. Your posts will be deleted. Each forum member must stick to the General 2-Spyware.com forum rules.

Good Luck.

I've followed those new and updated instructions and I'm still getting the messages despite the fact that none of the files listed appear in my registry or my hard drive. It makes no sense

Dreggers,

In such case please download the HijackThis program and run a system scan. Then create a new topic in the HijackThis log analysis section and post your log here. I will check your log and help you to eliminate the infection.

So according to the log I have no malicious programs on my computer, yet spyfalcon is still blinking away in the corner.

I guess I am in the same club .

My observations: in safe mode viruses and spyware do not proliferate. Upon regular boot, computer starts breeding all kinds of malicious stuff. I found Trojan.popuper, twain32.dll and Tracking Cookies in addition to SpyFalcon on my machine.

Question: can I run HijackThis in safe mode?

Thanks

Thanks!!! AVG Free addition did get rid of the pop-up. It sequested two Trojan downloaders: Zlob.YA and Zlob.YE in the initial scan. It also caught twain32.dll upon reboot. Life seems bearable again. However, I still cannot change start-up page in Internet Explorer. It keeps redirecting me to www.safetydefender.com . I guess, this is another malicious website.

PS./ The last time I loaded Explorer, I got another pop-up suggesting buying protective soft. i guess the problem is not over.

Thanks for that, worked a treat. No more annoying blinking icon although I too have the Internet Explorer homepage problem, but since I use firefox most of the time its easily ignored. Still if anyone finds a solution for that I'd be happy
