Hello,
One morning about 2 weeks ago, my home page suddenly changed to syssecurity site.com.
No matter what I did I could not get it to go away. My son, who is a computer expert came over and ran all sorts of virus detecting things and did get rid of a few things (I don't know what they were), but he couldn't get that home page to go away. Help me, please!

Hi, katylfp.
Please follow these steps:
1. Download the smitRem tool and unpack its files to a chosen folder.
2. Use HijackThis to fix the following entries:
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - - (no file)
O2 - BHO: Nothing - {686a161d-5bd1-4999-8832-6393f41e564c} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp100.tmp
3. Now restart your system in Safe Mode. This step is very important!
4. Once in Safe Mode, run the smitRem tool by executing the RunThis.bat file. The smitRem tutorial can be found here.
5. After you get done, restart your computer, run new HijackThis scan and post a fresh log here. |
