Microsoft extends the expiration date of Windows Defender

A few days ago, Microsoft released an updated version of its powerful anti-spyware program Windows Defender (formerly known as Microsoft AntiSpyware). The recent release, build 1.0.701, is a minor refresh made mostly to extend the expiration date to July 31, 2006. It also provides new spyware definitions database and slight improvements. Windows Defender is still in the beta stage and therefore remains free for personal use and testing purposes.

Users of the previous Microsoft AntiSpyware beta should update the program until December 31, 2005, the day when this version will expire. The latest Windows Defender will be distributed to current users via online software update services. New users can already download it from the official web site.
