Email security remains a problem

The results of new research revealed the fact that infected email messages are more widespread in countries where internet is still gaining popularity. The worst results were seen in India where the use of internet is increasing. Security levels were much better in countries where people use internet for years. These facts have simple explanation: scammers and spammers target users that are less computer literate, however the numbers are quite shocking.

One in every 30.5 e-mails was infected in India, while there was only one infected message in every 191.5 emails in USA. The ratio was similar in Canada as one email out of 158 had a virus. The results were a little better in Australia and Japan as the ratios were respectively 1/298.7 and 1/273.7. Many Asian countries didn’t do well, for example there was one infected email in every 92 messages in China.

Some people may say that spam is inevitable and we can do nothing about viruses spreading through email. However, the results of the same research were really good in some countries. For example the ratio was 1/768 in New Zealand.
