We are used to attacks of hackers and protection of security software, but there’s a twist in the story. “Sophos” has recently discovered security breach that Trend Micro preferred to hide from their customers. Apparently, the situation when security software creators disguise major glitches is not so rare in the industry. A group of supposedly ethical hackers even chose such companies as targets. The firms that use vague PR tactics shouldn’t be scared of malware or similar things coming onto them.
The group represented by Petko D. Petkov plans taking buried secrets in the spotlight. According to the statement they made, those that sell security software rather pays money for masking a glitch than fixing the problem. And the problem can be malware infections, non-functional applications, and un-secured data of customers. If we believe Petko D. Petkov, this is just a start. Although it seems to be chivalrous action, it’s not so legal and the group of kindhearted knights is most likely to be persecuted.
