Annoyed by adwares, browser hijackers and similar potentially unwanted programs? It seems that soon we will be capable of getting more power against infiltration of these programs. Of course, under one condition – we will have to choose Google Chrome web browser for doing our browsing on the Internet. We say so because of the latest announcement about some special features that were added to this browser. According to Google security engineer Moheeb Abu Rajab, these features will help people get a notification from Chrome about programs that are trying to change homepage or default search engine.
In fact, it’s not a new thing that Chrome warns people about malicious things. It has already been alerting users about trojans, rogues and similar malware before it manages to get inside the system. Of course, malicious and questionable websites have also been blocked (you must have seen a warning that says: ‘Danger! Malware ahead!’or ‘Warning! Visiting this site may harm your computer!). However, it seems that the fact that there are hundreds of questionable programs that infiltrate people’s computers unnoticed have encouraged Google team to renew their browser.
The best news is that after the latest modifications Google Chrome will display a warning about deceptive downloads that may be trying to alter homepage and/or default search engine or planning to initiate other mess on the system. As its official announcement claims, “We’ll show a warning in Chrome whenever an attempt is made to trick you into downloading and installing such software. If you still wish to proceed despite the warning, you can access it from your Downloads list.” Sounds promising, right?
