Searching the web can be dangerous

According to a new study conducted by Ben Edelman, reputable anti-spyware expert, and Hannah Rosenbaum, McAfee SiteAdvisor research analyst, searching the web can be dangerous. Search results, especially the sponsored ones, from popular search engines often contain links to spyware and malware sites. According to a recent study from Panda Software, a well-known antivirus developer, a larger part of all parasites is made only to make money for their authors. 40% of all malware detected by the company's online scanner was spyware, 17% was made up by parasite downloaders and trojans stealing user bank account details and other sensitive information. 8% of the total was made by dialers that connect victim computers to the Internet by dialing premium rate phone numbers.
