Alphawipe is a rogue history cleaner - a fake history cleaner, which uses various tactics to prove it's legitimacy and thus to get purchased. Albeit the most typical type of rogue is one that masquerades as an anti-spyware utility, there is really no difference: both types infect the system by using trojans and both types use scare tactics to intimidate the user in hopes of getting purchased. The intimidation is usually done by displaying popups and fake system notifications to "inform" the user of insecure browser history files etc.

Alphawipe is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block Alphawipe.com using your HOSTS file.

AlphaWipe used to named AlphaWipe Tracks Cleaner 2006, but since September 2008 it changed it's "brand" to AlphaWipe Tracks Cleaner 2008. The name is not matter in this case as all of them represent the same malware.
