You nailed this one, made clean up pretty easy!
I picked up this virus while browsing peopleofwalmart.com, must be a script in one of their ads.

Thank you. It worked

Thank you very much. I got this av.exe from some ad site called lermonte.com. Avoid this one like the plague. The manual process worked a treat.
Didn't buy Spydoctor. Installed MS Windows Defender. Did the trick just as well.

Fantastic information. I have removed a few viruses over the years, but never have the instructions been laid out so easily as in this case. I don't know what the regedit did, and I don't want to know - when I hit the remote, the TV goes on, and I don't care how.

Well done.

Worked Great! Now none of my icons work as .exe. Could someone tell me how to get that back to the proper file type.

I went to System Restore and restored to a prior point. All seems to be ok now ....but in reading this information here, I am wondering if the virus is still running in the background and I need to do more than just the "Restore" that I did.

trend micro internet security is a really good antivirus software. its 120 $ for 3 years of service. it has kept av.exe from "authorizing" any changes on my computer.
