A RAT (Remote Administration Tool) is a kind of spyware that hackers use for controlling remote computers. The main principle is always the same: the PC of the victim is infected with a "server" program, which allows the intruder to connect via a "client" on his own computer. To avoid such nasty infections you should be careful with any strange mail you get, because sending a letter with a "trojan" is one of the most famous ways of infection. The other thing you should be careful with is the File and Print Sharing. This virus originated in December 2001.
