What is adware?

Adware is a program that displays advertisements while people are browsing online. Advertisements appear in a web browser, pop-up windows, special toolbars or within the host program. Adware also can gather information about user’s habits and interests. Once it collects what it needs, it sends it out through a background Internet connection. Such behavior allows adware vendors to deliver targeted advertisements to the end user and collect general statistics. However, it may also be used for stealing people’s private data.

Adware is divided into parasitical and legitimate applications. Illegal advertising programs are very similar to spyware parasites and often have some of their functions. They can be installed without user's knowledge and start working every time a computer is rebooted. However, they are less dangerous than rogues because the most of such parasites are primarily intended to collect user’s personal information for marketing and advertising purposes. Unfortunately, you can never know what other purposes it can be used for.

Symptoms showing that your computer was infected by Awesome HP:

•  Appearance of annoying pop-up ads
•  Appearance of banners and in-text ads
•  Redirects to unknown and suspicious websites
•  Changes in homepage and default search engine
•  Decreased speed of every Internet browser

One day, I downloaded u torrent. I was not able to scrutinize the bundles and the settings enclosed with it. Then a big change happened. When I open the browsers - google chrome and mozilla... I am directed to this browser called awesome hp. And every time I surf the net, lots and lots of pop-ups would appear on my screen. I got so worried because I knew that my laptop was already infected.

Researching about this awesome hp thing, I learned that this is a hijacker browser. And from there, I tried to research on ways to remove it. Several strategies were given by the net like... 1. go to control panel, click uninstall programs, and delete all programs related to awesome hp. 2. download the spyhunter 4... and many others.

I got so worried because the 1st step didnt work for me... as for the 2nd, well I didnt plan to pay so as to download a malware detector and remover.

Then came my husband, my knight in shining armor. He sat down and did his stuff... then wallah! The awesome hp was gone.

Here are the simple steps on how to get rid of it:

1. Delete the google chrome icon from your desktop and task bar.

2. Go to my computer and go to drive C:/.

3. Go to program files

4. Go to google folder and proceed to chrome folder... then click the application folder.

5. From there you can see the google chrome icon. Then create a shortcut to your desktop. Then open it...

Wallah! Your browser it back to its old step.

NOTE: The only thing that Ive observed is that after doing this process... I went to the sites regarding the removal of the awesome hp, so as to provide comments and to share this experience; but the thing is, when I open those sites, the advertisements and pop ups again appeared. Nevertheless, when I close the chrome browser and again tried to surf other sites, the ads never appeared.

Anyway, I hope this will help you resolve this awesome hp problem. Let me know if this works fine with you too.

This works with me and I think it will also help you.
1. Uninstall all programs by awesomehp.com thru control panel. Restart.
2. Download, install and scan (full scan) with malwarebytes. Delete everything that mawarebytes found during the scan.
3. Uninstall google chrome and mozilla firefox browsers. You cannot uninstall internet explorer. If you reinstall google chrome and mozilla firefox browsers at this stage, the awesomehp.com was gone. Do not reinstall google chrome and mozilla firefox browsers for now but install it later to avoid duplication of work. Restart.
4. Use system restore to remove awesomehp.com to your internet explorer. Restore your PC to the date before your PC is infected.
5. After system restore, Download, install and scan (full scan) with malwarebytes and other antivirus. Delete everything that malwarebytes and antivirus found during the scan.
6. Uninstall google chrome and mozilla firefox browsers. Download and reinstall google chrome and mozilla firefox browsers.
7. The awesomehp.com is out but I am not sure if there is still infection somewhere in the PC.

Note: Be careful with system restore because if you restore back to the previous date when your PC is still infected by awesomehp.com, the infection might come back. To remedy this, those restore points covering the infection must be removed/deleted. So remove those restore points or turn the system restore off. Then restart, t then turn system restore on again.
