BroadcastPC is an adware program that contacts remote web servers and downloads various movies and advertising clips. Then it plays them at predefined moments distracting the user from his current work. BroadcastPC also tracks user browsing habits. The threat may download and secretly install different parasites and unsolicited advertising programs. It attempts to change the Windows Media Player default skin. Some BroadcastPC variants are able to automatically reinstall themselves and therefore cannot be removed with the help of ordinary anti-spyware tools. The threat is bundled with many parasites and ad-supported products. It runs on every Windows startup.

Very annoying product that pops up whenever it feels like it, whether you like it or not. If you are playing a full screen game or movie it will interupt it all of the sudden. Don't download!

This was put onto my computer without any knowledge of it due to an Error in IE that allows downloading of files with no permission. I never got any popups but had a noticiable decrease in internet speed(with my 56k dialup modem. It did open up two processes called defrag.exe and dfgntfs.exe which would wrect havok on my harddrive. I suggest downloading and installing AdAwareSE 1.05 as it is free and very good at detecting this kind of stuff. I have Nortan Internet Security Suite that includes firewall,virus scanning, spamblocker, popupblocker, and should detect all internet based programs. Yet is does not detect a lot of stuff which I have noticed. BroadCastPC must be a very bad program to have if it was deleting files on my harddrive which AdAware says it will do. Anyone who uses Internet Explorer I would suggest going to Tools/Internet Options/Security/CustomLevel and turn all scriping and anything that could allow downloading of a file, or scripts to be run set it to PROMT. Only allow scripts to run on a webpage you trust.
