I just discovered that I have had this on my computer (windows 8) for about a month. I believe it was attached to some image converting software that was downloaded a month ago. No matter what I do to remove it, it will not uninstall. It seems to have blocked any way to stop it from running on my computer. I also am having issues with Firefox not displaying pages and being very slow. It re-routes pages to malicious looking pages that Avast blocks.

I run windows 7 on my laptop. Not sure if this solution would work for windows 8. I was having trouble removing buzzsearch program from the control panel. I kept getting a popup that said I need to be an administrator to change program settings. My login account is an administrator account, but it got me thinking there are some fancy "block uninstall attempt" code in the program itself. So I restarted my computer in safe mode (pressing F8 when starting the computer will allow you the option of starting in safe mode with minimal drivers loaded). Once is safe mode, I was able to remove the program through the control panel without problems. Once completed, I restarted the laptop in routine fashion. Viola, the program was removed. Currently, looking through affected programs (internet explorer and Firefox) to see how they run now. Also running my virus software to make sure things are clean from that side. Hope this info helps if it gets to you.
