Why should you avoid Cliff Bar virus?

A rare Internet user has not encountered a program like Cliff Bar virus at least once in their whole computer use experience. Do you remember a suspicious toolbar that appeared on your browser out of nowhere? If you do, you may already know the struggles the users who have been the victims of Cliff Bar hijack experience. Despite the fact that this application poses as a legitimate tool for the internet search, in fact, it hijacks the browser’s settings and assigns them to search.findwide.com, search.yahoo.com or eShield websites instead of your regular search providers. Through these sites, the hijacker is then able to insert affiliate links and ads into your search results and visited websites. Do not be deceived: these ads and links are not there for your convenience. After some investigation, the security experts found that these ads and links by Cliff Bar redirect the users mainly to the sites, which are not reliable and should be avoided in general. What is more, you will not be able to tell whether the ads are legitimate or leading to suspicious third party websites since they do not simply disclose their true purpose, because Cliff Bar creators generate revenue by inserting these links into your browser. This means the more users click on the links, the more revenue the hijacker developers collect. It is a fair explanation why the potentially unwanted programs are so aggressive about the affiliate website advertising. For these reasons alone you should remove Cliff Bar from your computer with some reputable antivirus tool like Reimage.

Nevertheless, there are also some other reasons raising concern when dealing with this program. Cliff Bar not only hijacks your browser, inserts ads, and redirects to potentially hazardous sites. It may also track your internet browsing activity and collect other non-personal information. You IP address, browser type, visited websites and viewed pages are of primary interest to the PUP creators. This information allows them to create more user-targeted ads. Also, there is no guarantee, that the program does not accidentally or purposefully collect the more sensitive information as well. You should get rid of this program before your personal information is misused for some malicious purposes. Cliff Bar removal instructions are provided just below this article.

Methods applied in the distribution of this virus:

Cliff Bar will not appear on your computer completely without your intervention. This means that you have to let it enter your system at some point in time. This gap is very well known for the PUP creators. They infiltrate the malicious creations into the unsuspecting users’ computers through a deceptive software distribution method called bundling. This technique is based on attaching the PUPs to other, popular programs such as PFD creators, download managers and similar. When this popular program is downloaded and installed on the computer, the PUP installs along with it. The users are often unaware of such processes. To keep track of what programs are entering your computer, you should always use the advanced software installation settings. These settings will enable you to manage the optional installs, in this way, you will be able to block the unwanted programs from entering your PC.
