CrackedEarth is a browser hijacker that changes Internet Explorer default home and search pages. The threat may also install an additional toolbar and add numerous bookmarks to the web browser's Favorites list. CrackedEarth is distributed using ActiveX drive-by downloads and therefore can get into the system while visiting some unsafe web sites. The parasite runs every time the user launches Internet Explorer.

The homepage-hijacker adds a crackedearth.com search bar added to the bottom of your normal start page, and sends address bar searches to genieknows.com via a crackedearth.com frameset. May also add crackedearth.com bookmarks to your Favorites list.
