Daserf is a backdoor that provides the attacker with unauthorized remote access to the compromised computer. The intruder can steal important system information. The parasite is able to inject malicious code into legitimate system processes, secretly download from the Internet and execute arbitrary files. It runs as a service on every Windows startup.

Daserf is usually installed by other parasites. Some of them may arrive as infected Microsoft Word files that exploit certain Microsoft Word vulnerabilities.
