Data Repair is rogue system optimization and repair program that reports non-existent hard drive errors and system problems. It's from the same family as Data Recovery and Master Utilities. The rogue program is distributed via trojans and infected websites. Usually, scammers use exploit kits to infect computers. And you don't need to click anything; simply visiting infected website is enought. Although, it has Microsoft logo and overall graphical user interface looks rather professional, Data Repair has nothing to do with Microsoft. It's not genuine software. Once installed, this fake program performs fake system scans and claims that your computer has numerous critical hard drive and RAM errors. It pushes you to register the program to fix those problems and prevent data loss. As any other scareware, Data Repair displays system errors and notifications to make you think that your computer is going to crash. However, that's not all, this rogue program takes it to entirely next level by hiding your icons and moving files to different locations. Fake security alerts may state the following:
