EncryptoJJS ransomware / virus (Improved Guide)

EncryptoJJS virus Removal Guide

What is EncryptoJJS ransomware virus?

What is known about EncryptoJJS ransomware?

EncryptoJJS virus is a new crypto-ransomware type malicious program that appends .enc file extensions to every file it encrypts. It wreaks havoc on victim’s computer in order to convince the user to pay a huge ransom. Once the virus slithers into the system, it activates EncryptoJJS_ransomware.exe and encryptoJJS 1.0.exe files, which corrupt all files, including photos, videos, music, documents, archives, and so on. The encryption process takes an hour or two, depending on the amount of data kept on the computer. During the encryption, the computer normally works – just a little bit slower than it usually does. When all files are corrupted, the virus creates a document entitled as How to recover.enc.txt, which provides only a little information. All it says is:

All of your pictures have been encrypted and are impossible to decrypt
If you ever want to see your pictures again, please visit:

You will need 1 bitcoin to complete the transaction

If this .txt file appeared on your desktop, and if the rest of the files have .enc file extensions, sadly, we have to announce that you have become a victim of cybercrime. Files encrypted by a ransomware virus can be decrypted only with the help of a special key that the virus generates for each victim individually. Unfortunately, after data encryption, this key get excluded from the system. In order to access it, the victim needs to pay a ransom in Bitcoins. At the moment, virus authors’ demand 1 BTC (approximately 706 USD), but the ransom price can be customized by criminals. We do not recommend you to pay – criminals can steal your money and leave encrypted files for you without providing an explanation. Remember that you are the victim, and they are criminals, and they do not feel the need to help you – they just want your money. Therefore, instead of paying the ransom, we suggest you remove EncryptoJJS virus with anti-malware software like FortectIntego. For EncryptoJJS removal, start your device in a Safe Mode with Networking first.

How did this virus reach your computer system?

Ransomware viruses and Trojans are very similar – they all manage to infiltrate computer system silently with the help of deceitful techniques. We believe that you have already heard about Trojan viruses that infiltrate computer systems in the form of a safe-looking file. Ransomware viruses act the same way – their authors craft documents or JS files that seem to be harmless, then add them to a professionally-written email letter and send it to thousands of recipients. Have you received an intriguing email message lately? Do not rush to open it or files attached to it because you can unwillingly infect your PC with malware in a few seconds. Also, avoid clicking on suspicious ads online – they can redirect you to untrustworthy or harmful websites that might contain an exploit kit or provide free downloads that can carry ransomware payload. Please think about general Internet hazards before clicking on that “shocking video” or downloading that software update that has been offered to you via a pop-up ad.

How to prevent from getting ransomware

Choose a proper web browser and improve your safety with a VPN tool

Online spying has got momentum in recent years and people are getting more and more interested in how to protect their privacy online. One of the basic means to add a layer of security – choose the most private and secure web browser. Although web browsers can't grant full privacy protection and security, some of them are much better at sandboxing, HTTPS upgrading, active content blocking, tracking blocking, phishing protection, and similar privacy-oriented features. However, if you want true anonymity, we suggest you employ a powerful Private Internet Access VPN – it can encrypt all the traffic that comes and goes out of your computer, preventing tracking completely.

Lost your files? Use data recovery software

While some files located on any computer are replaceable or useless, others can be extremely valuable. Family photos, work documents, school projects – these are types of files that we don't want to lose. Unfortunately, there are many ways how unexpected data loss can occur: power cuts, Blue Screen of Death errors, hardware failures, crypto-malware attack, or even accidental deletion.

To ensure that all the files remain intact, you should prepare regular data backups. You can choose cloud-based or physical copies you could restore from later in case of a disaster. If your backups were lost as well or you never bothered to prepare any, Data Recovery Pro can be your only hope to retrieve your invaluable files.
