Findwide is a virus, which should also known as browser hijacker. Once it gets inside the system, it can start redirecting your searches to search.findwide.com and other unwanted websites. For that, it affects all browsers (IE, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are included) and changes homepage, search engine and bookmarks list. Be aware that such redirections are used to increase the traffic to insecure websites and track users' browsing habits in order to show relevant search results and commercial advertisements. That's why we do not recommend keeping Findwide or Findwide Toolbar on your computer or using its promoted search engine for your search sessions. If you keep search.findwide.com as your default search engine, you may suffer from a great loss because it may start tracking your browsing habits and steal your personal information, such as loggins, passwords and banking details.
HOW CAN I GET INFECTED WITH FINDWIDE?
Findwide virus is propagated via several ways of distribution. The first one includes free applications that always have some optional installs included for monetization purposes. What is browser hijacker?
Browser hijacker is a malicious program, usually a web browser plug-in or add-ons, which modifies web browser settings in order to change default search page, home page, new tab or error page. After that, it starts unwanted redirects to undesirable Internet sites. A browser hijacker also can record all web pages the user visits and send gathered information out through a background Internet connection.
Practically all browser hijackers are created for commercial, advertising or marketing purposes. However, there are lots of malicious versions of these programs that similarly to spyware or adware threats can be installed on the system without user's consent and often hide deep inside the system for avoiding their removal.
