Free1new.org replaces default search engine with Russian Google version and shoves ads

Free1new.org virus is a type of computer infection which is primarily focused on making money out of online advertising. The majority of search engines are partially or entirely monetized through such form of affiliate marketing [1], but some of their developers are just greedier than others. Unfortunately, Free1new is one of such questionable, ad-oriented programs. First, it tries to become default web search engine and homepage on as many computers as possible, even if this means sneaking into systems without asking user’s permission. The virus uses Russian version of Google search to set up a kind of virtual layer which later helps inject ads into any websites or pages. When silently running on the system, the virus then unleashes all of its power and starts displaying random pop-up ads, banners or video commercials in a variety of shapes and sizes just to attract more users into clicking them. With the stealthy system take-over and extensive advertising, this program borders somewhere between an adware [2] and a browser hijacker, but has a slightly more substantial shift towards the former. Looking at the adware’s prevalence statistics and having in mind its use of the Russian Google version, we can presume that this parasite is specifically targeted towards the Russian-speaking users. If you are using Google version designed for this particular country, you may not even notice the suspicious changes even took place on your browser. Thus, it is recommended to check your system regularly with professional malware detection software such as Reimage. The same security utilities can also be used for the Free1new.org removal.

Free1new.org ads are not just an insignificant inconvenience that you can shove under a rug and continue using your browser as you would normally do. These ads are annoying and very intrusive, so it is unlikely that you will manage to ignore them for too long without being annoyed. You should not try closing them manually, though. There have been reports that ads by Free1new.org don’t actually have active “Close” buttons, only their imitations which redirect victims to the predetermined websites. Trust us — you don’t want to be redirected to random sites and become a fresh target for advertisers, tech support scammers, and other cyber criminals. You must remove Free1new.org to prevent unnecessary risks.
