Gogletab.com virus. How to remove? (Uninstall guide)

Why should you keep away from Gogletab.com?

Gogletab.com virus is a deceptive imitation of a legitimate search engine. Usually, such fake websites are very close copies of the virtual ones. In fact, they look so alike that they often become virtually indistinguishable. Nevertheless, antivirus tools have no trouble locating them and can eliminate them easily when given this task. We recommend doing it with some trustworthy antivirus utilities, for instance, Reimage.

The initial Gogletab.com hijack usually goes undetected. The problems start to emerge a bit later when the program settles in on the system. If you have been using Google as your default search engine and homepage, you may notice that the domain address has suddenly changed from google.com to gogletab.com/en. This change is not as easy to notice because the rest of the site looks identical to the well-recognizable search engine. Nevertheless, if you entered something into the search bar, you will be immediately redirected to the custom Google search. This service will not display the usual information as you would expect from the regular search. Instead, the hijacker will put the sponsored results and ads forward, and even eliminate the regular links entirely. Just think about it. Is Gogletab a search service you would happily use for your work or research? If not, then you should not hesitate to remove Gogletab.com and reset your browser to its original state.

An illustration of Gogletab.com hijacker virus

The virus does not choose its victims, so the whole infection process is completely random. Gogletab.com malware may infect any of the popular browsers that it finds installed on your computer, including Edge, Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. And you will not get rid of this virus that easily. It may install additional software or mess with the registry just to remain on your computer. The occurrence of unknown new toolbars, browser extensions or other add-ons is a clear indicator that you should inspect your computer for malware. What can also give the infection away is the recurrent redirect issue. We have already mentioned that you might find your search results filled with sponsored links, leading to sponsored websites. But often, Gogletab.com redirect to these sites at random or after the user clicks on some not entirely honest link. It’s all fine if these sites are reliable and provide legitimate information. Unfortunately, safe advertising is not a practice browser hijackers are known for. That is why we recommend carrying out the Gogletab.com removal without any delay if you ever find this dubious search engine on your browser.

What strategies do the browser hijackers employ to infiltrate computers?

Gogletab.com usually takes over computer browsers without asking permission. This is one of the primary reasons why this search engine is considered a virus. If you wonder how it manages to sneak into computers undetected, think about how you download and install programs on your PC? Do you always download your applications only from the safe and websites? Do you always check the downloaded programs for additional components potentially added to the software packages? If at some point, you disregarded these rules, it is likely that your computer might have been infected with Gogletab.com or some other potentially unwanted program. In such a case, you should scan your computer for malware and make sure all the found threats are removed.

How difficult is the Gogletab.com removal?

If you do not know much about how viruses function and have never dealt with one before, Gogletab.com removal might be a bit of a challenge for you. But do not feel intimidated just — it only applies to the users who decide to remove the virus manually. If you choose the automatic elimination instead, no major problems should arise. Simply select full system scan and wait a few minutes for all of the virus components to be detected and eliminated from the system. If you wish to remove Gogletab.com virus from the computer using your own skills, it is advisable that you follow professional instructions. You will find a comprehensive guide provided below.

You can remove Gogletab.com automatically with a help of one of these programs: Reimage, Plumbytes Anti-MalwareWebroot SecureAnywhere AntiVirus, Malwarebytes Anti Malware. We recommend these applications because they can easily delete potentially unwanted programs and viruses with all their files and registry entries that are related to them.
