Hallmark is quite popular website of e-cards; that must be a reason why malware creators exploit the name of it to deliver trojans. Hallmark.gif[1].exe is a third trojan in a month that is distributed through fake Hallmark email notifications.

Hallmark.gif[1].exe infection is easy to avoid. Do not read spam emails, don’t click on links provided on spam messages and don’t open attachments that come with spam. This particular spam message contains the following text:

“Hello!
You have received a Hallmark E-Card.
To see it, click here,
There’s something special about that E-Card feeling. We invite you to make a friend’s day and send one.
Hope to see you soon,
Your friends at Hallmark
Your privacy is our priority. Click the “Privacy and Security” link at the bottom of this E-mail to view our policy.”

If a victim clicks on the link to see the ecard, he or she is redirected to viper1.com website and gets Hallmark.gif[1].exe trojan instead of greetings. Avoid viewing ecards from Hallmark if the sender is not familiar to you.
